Sidecar Driving Education and Safety
Dear Ural Riders and Riders-To-Be,
We here at IMWA know that driving a sidecar motorcycle is significantly different in handling dynamics and characteristics from 2-wheeled motorcycles. Many of you have years of motorcycling experience; however driving a sidecar motorcycle is quite different from riding solo. Therefore, we encourage all of you to devote more attention to learning and practicing the techniques of safe sidecar riding.
We strongly encourage you to refer to the "Driving a Sidecar Manual" for important advice from sidecar driving experts - it is the yellow book that is supplied with every new Ural.
The best way to learn sidecar driving techniques is by taking sidecar safety-training classes. The list of the safety-training courses nationwide can be found on the Evergreen Safety Council website: http://www.esc.org/Motorcycle%20Training-shell.htm (Click on the drop-down "Motorcycle and Sidecar/Trike" menu on the left) or by calling: 1-800-521-0778
We feel it is important for all Ural riders to take a safety-training course in your area. We are working with industry representatives and state motorcycle safety program coordinators to get more motorcycle training facilities to offer sidecar-training across the country, please check back (to the above link) for updates.
IMWA is also offering a rebate in the amount of up to $125 (not to exceed cost of training course) to any customer who takes the sidecar safety-training course within the first year of purchase of a new Ural sidecar motorcycle. (Starting with the purchase date of 8/1/05). Please contact your selling dealer for details.
Ride Safe,
Team IMWA
